There are a lot of GPUs in these new platforms. Here is the specification
of Sony Play Station 4 (available end of 2013).
- 8-core AMD Jaguar CPU (around 1.6 - 2 GHz)
- 12 CU/768 SP AMD GCN GPU
- 8GB DDR3 system memory
- 500GB HDD
- Blu-ray drive
- 2.4/5.0GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n, multiple radios with WiFi Direct support
- 4K HDMI in/out (for cable TV passthrough)
- USB 3.0
768 GPUs have compute power 1.84 TFLOPs in the PS4. (compare this to current supercomputers). Sony’s approach with the PS4 SoC was to use a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface running around a 5.5GHz data rate, delivering peak memory bandwidth of 176GB/s.
First, look at the CPU. What is Jaguar? Here is the CPU roadmap of AMD in year 2012-2013
The products: Kabini and Temash (2013) use Jaguar CPU architecture. (from

If you are wondering about "Integrated Graphic Processing Unit", i.e. including GPU core with CPU core on the same die. Here is the explanation of AMD APU (Accerelated Processing Unit) (at Wiki)
