Current Practice in Evolutionary Computation

invited talk, Radchabhat Nakorn-pratom, June 15, 2010.

Abstract

Evolutionary Computation has been used as a "solver" in many complex domains such as engineering and medical science. The success of EC comes from its ease of use. It is easy to cast a complex problem into a representation that EC can be used.  EC can achieve a very good result with little human effort.  Presently, more powerful algorithms have been developed.  These new algorithms can deal with even more demanding problems.  In this talk, I will present an introduction to this class of algorithms and highlight some of their applications.
