Future of Computing

This lecture looks at the future of computing.  Three technologies dominate the way scientists work: Machine learning, High performance computing and Quantum computing.  The demand of computation in Machine learning requires high performance machines.  This result in the development of General purpose graphic processing units. Finally, for super high performance, the effort is devoted to Quantum computing which promise to reach the computation that lay beyond the present computer systems.  Understanding these three technologies will help us to determine what is possible in the near term (5-10 years).

Assignment

Pick a topic between Machine learning, High performance computing,  and Quantum computing.  Make a question about that topic and write 4-5 pages report to investigate that question.  Due date 28 Nov 2022
