We have 5 new students for this new academic year and 7 existing students who participate in this seminar.  The goals of this seminar are:
1)  to prepare new students for research work
2)  to hone research skill of the existing students
3)  to communicate research ideas among all students

Seminar activities are not aimed to increase your knowledge of your research subject.  It is arranged to enhance your research skill.

The first 4 weeks activity aims to "warm up" your inquiry mind.
For new students, prepare to talk 20 minutes on your selected area of research.
For other students, select a journal publication (IEEE trans. or ACM level) not older than 2000, and give a in-depth presentation of that work in the way that is accessible to all students in the class.

The next activity will be "Problem directed discussion".  Each participant will prepare a "problem", usually the research he/she is working on, presents it to the group and asks everyone to "brainstorm" the solution.  The leader of the discussion must prepare adequate materials (references, research data, results of the experiments etc.) and distributes them to all participants before the week of discussion.  We will arrange this webpage for that purpose.
